Inspiration: The Smaller Wedding

As time goes on we will see weddings happening again, although the restrictions that are in place may mean numbers are limited. Hence the smaller wedding has a spike in popularity.

To be honest we cater for many smaller weddings, and we love their intimacy and fun. It is an opportunity to have those really important friends and family together, to create a wedding that is based around you and on most occasions allows you to spend a little less.

So where to start, like all weddings with the guests and the venue. After you have decided your numbers, you need to start looking for a place to get married.

The Venue

You may decide on a registry office wedding, or a small church or a venue with their wedding licence. Many of our couples choose to get married in the registry office or church and then move to their wedding reception venue. This is far easier when its a small wedding and people are able to drive or get taxis between the venues.

Twyning Park

To search for venues we would always start by a google search and then looking at the big wedding websites such as Hitched or MrandMrsUnique. There are some venues that are much better suited to smaller weddings. Our top choice would be Twyning Park, which can be hired for the weekend. If its a sunny day you can have the ceremony in the beautiful gardens, with of course a stunning marquee for food and dancing.

The Marquee

Small Marquee Hire

Our Small, One Pole, Petal Marquee is perfect for a wedding between 50 and 80 guests. This allows space for tables and chairs, as well as dancefloor and bar. You can even fit in a more chilled out furniture area with sofas and pouffes. Our small marquee looks stunning and impressive, but is a little cheaper than its larger counterparts.

The Food

You can go for traditional wedding food of course, but with smaller weddings there is also a real opportunity to go for something bespoke and different. We love the different food vans available, from fish and chips to Indian takeaway. Many of these independent food vans can cater for smaller weddings, rather than the big numbers of a large wedding.

A cheaper option can also be a hog roast or barbecue, again all of these can be easily hired.

The Flowers

With a smaller venue and marquee you can get away with not having as many flowers. If you are trying to save a little money, keep it simple. Perhaps asking a florist to create bouquets and button holes, but DIYing the table decorations yourself. We love the look of potted plants, herbs, cacti and even roses. You could keep it simple with a few flowers in a simple vase.

The Dress

The high street wedding dress has really changed in recent years and you can now get beautiful dresses for much lower prices. Some of our favourite places to shop include ASOS, H&M, Debenhams and John Lewis.

Of course if you fancy searching and want to take time sourcing the right dress, we would highly recommend vintage. A great place to start is Oxfam and ebay.

A smaller wedding does not mean you have to miss our on style and fun. We love that they can be so unique and bespoke to what you want. Do get in touch if you want to chat ideas through.
